BancTec’s prescription processing solutions enable healthcare agencies to track medicines and patients, and detect illegal practices more effectively. Prescriptions are scanned using sophisticated, high volume scanners. Typically, each prescription is marked with a unique document sequence number and is then allocated one or more price codes relating to the prescribing doctor and price of the drugs dispensed. The price codes are collated to give a total price for each prescription, which represents the amount due to the dispensing pharmacy. Payment information reports are generated to enable Local Health Boards or Business Service Centres to reimburse pharmacies in an accurate and timely manner.
