Banctec System Installed by Capita to Process TV Licence Renewals
The UKs leading professional support services company chooses BancTec

BancTec has installed a new scanning system for The Capita Group Plc which will help the company process up to three quarters of a million TV licence renewals a year. The system scans and processes renewals from customers who do not auto-renew their licences by direct debit but instead post a form with a cheque.
The BancTec system enables Capita to process licences within five working days as it has the functionality to pre-process cheques. The new system is also linked into the main database to avoid manual re-keying of data.
Installed at offices in Bristol, the BancTec system has supported the administering of licences since Capita won the contract in July 2002. “Capita inherited the legacy IT systems established by our predecessors,” said Chris Webley, Mail and Licence Processing Manager at Capita. “BancTec has provided us with hardware that is one quarter the size of the old system and processes more efficiently. We’re very pleased with the system’s performance and ease of use.”
